Unlocking Potential: Transforming Lives, One Student at a Time

Welcome to the heart of our mission at Crossover, where we’re rewriting the narrative for students who are often overlooked by traditional education. We’re passionate about paving the path to success for young minds, starting as early as middle school, because we believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive.

Crossover Mission’s Independent Study Program is tailored to meet the unique needs of students who, for various reasons, find themselves struggling in the traditional school environment. These students are the most vulnerable to the risks of dropping out—a statistic that impacts not just their lives but society as a whole.

While the Indian River School District has an impressive graduation rate, it’s crucial to remember that behind the numbers are real stories of unfulfilled potential. Research reveals that the cost of incarcerating a single juvenile is staggering – a price tag that far exceeds the most expensive college tuition and underscores the urgency of our mission.

How We Make a Difference:

Crossover Mission is committed to identifying and supporting students who exhibit early signs of being at risk of dropping out. We focus on four key predictors: educational performance, behaviors, attitudes, and socio-economic background. It’s not about fitting students into a mold; it’s about tailoring our approach to their unique needs.

A Personalized Approach:

Traditional educators face significant challenges in providing individualized instruction and managing classrooms. Our program takes a different route. We offer intensive, one-on-one instruction and tutoring, addressing each dropout predictor head-on.

Academic Support: For students struggling academically, we provide extra tutoring and after-school support, ensuring they catch up and stay on track.

Behavior Assistance: Those facing behavior challenges receive dedicated one-on-one mentoring, support from community agencies, and structured athletic activities – with basketball at Crossover – as a positive outlet.

Attitude Adjustment: We empower students with goal-setting techniques to boost self-efficacy and a positive outlook on their future.

Breaking Down Socio-economic Barriers: For students grappling with socio-economic challenges like poverty, food insecurity, or housing, we’re their advocates. We connect them with crucial community resources, lending a helping hand.

With a small student-to-staff ratio (1:5) and one-on-one volunteer mentoring, we’re not just meeting academic needs – we’re nurturing emotional and behavioral growth. Each student forms a powerful bond with our dedicated staff and their families.

Together, We Create Success Stories:

At Crossover Mission, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to education, especially for this unique student population. We offer support, guidance, and opportunities for every student, one step at a time.
