Guiding Student Athletes to Greatness

Strength Through Sports, Success Through Support

OUR MISSION

Crossover Mission helps the kids who need us most to become successful adults through a program of year-round basketball training and one-to-one academic mentoring.

Our kids often live in difficult family situations and are surrounded by violence and drug abuse. Because of this, they are at risk of school drop-out, gang involvement, and incarceration. Crossover Mission redirects their lives by providing structure, accountability, positive role models, and exposure to broader life experiences

ABOUT US

Crossover Mission is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 dedicated to supporting and redirecting youth in Indian River County through after-school and summer programming. Led by dedicated success coaches and one-to-one mentors who understand basketball is a unique and effective tool to attract, motivate, and retain student athletes, Crossover also provides academic support to promote achievement in all areas of life.

Our mission is twofold: to help young people reach their potential and to build bridges of friendship and understanding between cultures that help erode societal divisions from a young age. Crossover embodies a vision of unity, reaching out to those who need it most.

Crossover offers evidence-based, comprehensive programming at a low cost for local families. Our academic year consists of three seasons, registration is $100 per season. Season 1 begins August -November, Season 2 November-February and Season 3 is February-May. Additional fees for summer programs . Our program is built around the Four A’s: athletics, Attitude, Academics, and Attendance. Our mentorship extends to character development, positive mindset cultivation, social etiquette, confident self-expression, and exposure to enriching cultural and career opportunities.

Our Programs

Academic Support Program

Our comprehensive academic support, includes mandatory after school academic mentoring and tutoring, our home school type independent study program, and our college and career readiness program. Academic mentoring and tutoring is mandatory, and all student athletes ages 11-18 participate during the school year. Transportation from the schools to the Crossover Center is provided. Through group and one-on-one mentoring, we seek grade improvement in core areas, positive and engaged behavior at school, a 100% non-offense rate, and preparedness for a vocational training program, college, and a career.

Healthy Kids

Healthy Kids is our comprehensive athletics program with daily sports training, health and fitness, and mentoring at its core. It is mandatory and all student athletes ages 11-18 participate during the school year. Transportation from school is provided. It is both a prevention and management effort that addresses obesity, physical fitness, nutrition, and the social dimensions of a young person’s health. Through a three-part strategy of basketball training, healthy lifestyles/ life-skills instruction, and one-to-one mentoring, Healthy Kids helps local youth and families build a buffer reducing risk factors (e.g. anti-social behaviors, family stabilization issues, and a lack of commitment to school).

Summer Program

Helps realize a community need for structured, affordable, and fun summer programming. The Summer Program helps participants gain a competitive edge in their pursuit of academic excellence and prized roster spots on their school basketball teams. As the Summer Program staff organizes overnight basketball camps on college campuses as well as cultural and educational excursions and tours throughout Indian River County and the state, student athletes develop positive mindsets and confidence as well as receive exposure to a broader social world that offers new possibilities.

Competitive Travel Ball

Each year head coach Antoine Jennings organizes age specific competitive travel basketball teams for boys and girls that compete at the highest level for basketball tournaments locally and nationally. With consistent opportunities to compete, learn, and grow, participants in the program become high-performing student athletes by developing confidence and skills in three key areas. 1) Time Management, 2) Prioritization, and 3) Self-Discipline. In order to participate in travel ball, enrollment in the core academic and athletic training program is a requirement.

Elite Training

A specialty track for top student athletes at Crossover. This is an intense program focusing on peak performance, and the importance of adequate sleep, avoiding drug use, sound mental health, and high-level skill development. Designed to simulate the training of a college athlete, the Elite Training program is vital for all Crossover student athletes with collegiate level aspirations.

At Crossover, basketball is more than just a sport. It teaches student athletes such life skills as grit, resilience, and determination–all essential for overcoming life’s challenges. The discipline gained from rigorous training translates into academic success and personal growth. Teamwork on the court fosters a sense of community while the confidence gained from athletic achievements empowers student athletes to aim higher in the classroom and in the community.

Our newly-renovated 40,000 sq. ft. facility, located on US Highway 1 in Vero Beach, serves as a second home to student athletes and provides them with a safe environment and a supportive peer network. Most student athletes at Crossover come from under-resourced backgrounds which can hinder their chances for a lifetime of success. With the consistent support of trusted mentors, hard work, and the transformative power of basketball, they learn to overcome barriers and strive for a brighter future.
