Crossover Mission Awards Scholarships to Graduating Seniors and Alumni
Crossover Mission is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 Crossover Mission Scholarships, recognizing students who have demonstrated commitment to academics, leadership, perseverance, and personal growth throughout their time in the program.
This year’s scholarship recipients are Cole Register, Jonathan Gomez, Andre Ferguson, and Brandon Moura Stodolski.
Including this year’s recipients, Crossover Mission has awarded scholarships to 15 students since the program’s inception. The organization continues to provide scholarship support, guidance, and mentorship to alumni each year as they pursue higher education, career training, and other pathways beyond high school.
Since 2022, Crossover Mission has distributed more than $105,000 in scholarships and post-secondary support, helping students address the rising costs of tuition, books, housing, summer coursework, and other educational expenses.
Established to help remove financial barriers to post-secondary education, the Crossover Mission Scholarship Program reflects the organization’s long-term commitment to helping young people successfully transition into adulthood through education, mentorship, and opportunity.
While scholarship awards have traditionally provided support of up to $5,000 annually, the program has expanded in recent years to better meet student needs, including assistance for summer coursework and educational expenses beyond tuition alone.
The scholarship program was established through the leadership and early investment of Jim and Diana Cronin, whose support through the Cronin Family Foundation and Fry Family Foundation (now the Fry & Cronin Foundation) helped launch scholarship opportunities for Crossover Mission students. Additional support has since been provided by Steve and Julie Williams and an Anonymous Donor.
“As Diana and I became involved with Crossover, we saw firsthand the culture of respect, accountability, and encouragement that exists within the organization,” said Jim Cronin, Crossover Mission Board Member and Co-Trustee of the Cronin Family Foundation and Fry & Cronin Foundation. “We wanted students to know that support would continue beyond high school and that their goals—whether college, trade school, or another path—mattered. These scholarships are investments in young people and in the future of our community.”
Founded in 2014 by Cathy De Schouwer and Antoine Jennings, Crossover Mission serves youth and young adults throughout Indian River County through year-round basketball and sports training, academic mentoring, literacy support, leadership development, and college and career readiness programming.
“For many students and families, the path after high school can feel overwhelming,” said Cathy DeSchouwer, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Crossover Mission. “The cost of college and career training continues to rise, and navigating applications, financial aid, enrollment, housing, and other decisions can be complicated, particularly for first-generation students. These scholarships not only help ease financial barriers, but they also represent something equally important: the knowledge that a community believes in our students and will continue walking alongside them as they pursue their goals.”
As Crossover Mission continues to grow, the scholarship program remains an important extension of its commitment to helping student-athletes succeed both on and off the court. By investing in education, mentorship, and opportunity beyond graduation, the organization is helping young people build bright futures for themselves, their families, and the communities they will one day serve.
