Antario’s Journey: From Struggles to Success

At just 14 years old, Antario has already overcome significant challenges, making his journey truly inspiring. His early years were marked by tough times, living with his aunt in St. Petersburg, FL, while his mother faced personal struggles. Antario was placed in foster care, moving through different homes in Connecticut. For a while, it seemed no one was listening to him, but a turning point came when a new social worker and therapist finally understood his needs.

After a series of moves, Antario was adopted by his forever family in 2020. Together, they relocated to Vero Beach, Florida, where he found a fresh start. But it wasn’t without difficulties—Antario has battled depression since he was nine and struggled to find his footing in school. Despite making the first cut, he didn’t make the basketball team in 7th grade, which was a disappointment. He also got into trouble, stealing and owing a debt that led him to Crossover Mission.

What started as a way to work off that debt turned into a life-changing experience. Under the guidance of Coach Pradel and the Crossover team, Antario’s attitude, schoolwork, and basketball skills improved dramatically. The support helped him mature, build confidence, and focus on the person he wanted to become. Now, Crossover feels like a second home to him.

Antario is now passing his classes, showing leadership, and staying focused on his future goals. With plans to attend college, Antario knows he’s on the path to success. His favorite motto reflects his newfound confidence: “I know I am going to win or at least do my part for the team.”
